Pakistani Australians – Best Overseas Pakistani Community

I got opportunity to watch the Pakistan – South Africa T20 match, a game which was part of the ongoing T20 Cricket World Cup, at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) few days ago. Our team was not performing well at that time and had lost two pool matches against our traditional rival India and Zimbabwe.

However, when I reached the venue I was highly impressed to see that a large number of Pakistanis from Sydney and other cities of Australia had travelled to support Green Shirts on a weekday. I also had taken one large Pakistani flag with me. Pakistanis were dancing Bhangra around Dhol players and were so excited.

Later we all moved to the ground and took our allocated seats. More than 90% of the spectators were supporting Pakistan. South Africa had very little presence of their fans in the ground. The game started and as usual our opening batting pair Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan couldn’t score well once again. I was expecting that crowd would chant slogans against them, but to my surprise no one criticised them but welcomed the next batsmen. They kept supporting the team. Not only this, but they also appreciated the South African players whenever they took a wicket or scored a four or sixer.

Other thing that impressed me was our general behaviour towards each other. A Pakistani family sitting next to me offered food, although we had never met before. All over the stadium there was a great harmony between Pakistani people belonging from different areas in Pakistan. The most appreciable thing was that no one chanted a slogan against the present Pakistani government or the armed forces, which I was expecting due to the current political instability in Pakistan.

I can proudly claim that Pakistani Australians are the best overseas Pakistanis in the world who are patriot, mature and open hearted. No matter someone is from Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Multan, Haiderabad, Faislabad, Gilgit, Peshawar or any part of Pakistan, they all love each other and support our sports teams.

So…. The good news is that we are going to play the final match of T20 World Cup at the MCG (also known as ‘G’ locally). In 1992 MCG proved very lucky for us when we beat England in the final of ICC World Cup, under the captaincy of Imran Khan. Now, We will play once again against England, under the captaincy of Babar Azam, who is in his form once again. I wish our team the very best of luck and hope that history will repeat itself and Insha Allah we will lift the trophy once again… aur who bhi Melbournce mein 😊.

I see a new Pakistan emerging!!!!

Karachi International Airport

Some years back nobody could even think that our nation could welcome the losing cricket team on its return after getting defeated by India in the World Cup semi final match in India…..Yet it happened in Karachi and Lahore. Pakistan lost the match against traditional rival India in Mohali on 30th March 2011. No doubt, our team made severe mistakes due to which we lost this crucial match and came out of the World Cup race….. All the nation was grieved no doubt, however the way the welcomed their losing team was just awesome……At first team arrived at Karachi airport, where many fans were gathered chanting welcoming slogans for the team.

Later, the team arrived Lahore, where Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and a large number of fans welcomed them with great respect and honour. PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt got tears in his eyes and thanked the cricket fans. Shahbaz Sharif invited the team and PCB officials on a lunch and awarded them with financial rewards. Pakistani Umpire Aleem Dar and famous Columnist and Anchorman Javed Chaudhry also attended the ceremony.

This beautiful patriotic song by Strings is giving us the hope…..Insha Allah world we see a new Pakistan very soon. We have to do our responsibilities in the best possible manner. Honesty is the key to success.

Real great captain Shahid Afridi in grief after losing the semi final

I am proud of my nation and to be honest for the first time now I am feeling ‘change’ taking place in Pakistan. In fact the country is emerging as a mature nation now. Insha Allah I am more than sure that if we keep progressing like this no one stop us from touching the skies. At the same time we must remember that ‘hardworking and honesty’ is the only shortcut that we can take for achieving our national goals.

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!!!

Pakistan and India play Semi Final in Mohali

The whole world is waiting for the ‘best match’ of the 2011 Cricket World Cup to be played today (30 March 2011) in Mohali, India where Pakistan will face India in the 2nd Semi Final of the great Cricket event. Afridi XI will play against Dhoni XI. Tensions are high in the cricket lovers from both the countries. People in Pakistan, India and other countries of the world are getting together to watch the match. Pakistani Prime Minister Gillani will also be in the stadium today with the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Pakistan and India are the traditional rivals in Cricket like Australia and England. People are very sentimental on both sides of the border and want to see their team winning each game against each other.

I would like to congratulate both countries for playing this great match. Game must be taken as game and winning and losing are part of a game. I request my Indians friends to greet Pakistani guests in their homeland. Also in case India loses the game, they must bear it with a positive approach. I also request Pakistanis to show respect to the Pakistani players even if they lose the game. We pray to Allah bless us with success today and also in the Final match later.

We friends in Australia are also very excited about the match and have arranged a get together where around 10-12 Pakistani friends will watch the live on TV. IU wish my team (Team Pakistan) a great success today.

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!!!

Pakistan – new Hockey Champions in Asia

Nobody could predict that Pakistani national anthem will be played in the final Hockey match of Asian Games 2010 held in China. Pakistani team gave a pleasant surprise to the whole nation in this time when we are facing a new crisis everyday. Rehan Butt and Sohail Abbas both scored 1 goal against Malaysia in the final match of the hockey event.

Pakistan won the glorious tournament after 20 years. This has enlighted a new hope for the Hockey in Pakistan, which is our national game. Pakistanb qualified for the London Olympics after this victory. We congratulate all the team members over this great success and expect that insha Allah now our great team will continue with the victories.

Aisam ul Haq – a great Tennis Star from Pakistan

Aisam ul Haq after reaching Lahore from US Open

I could have never expected that a day would come when one of my friends would be inquiring me about the score of US Open Mixed Doubles final, in which a Pakistani tennis start would be playing….

Aisam ul Haq created a new history in the Tennis by playing the finals of Mixed Doubles and Men’s Doubles in US Open Tennis Championship 2010. Although he lost the finals which he was playing with his non-Pakistani partners, yet the world saw a Pakistani reaching upto this level. We are really proud of him and wish him a great success in his future career.

He brought respect and recognition for the country when we faced embarrassment due to the unprofessional act of our cricketers in the recent England visit.

Footballers in Action!

World Cup South Africa 2010

On 11th June 2010 World Cup Football started. The event is getting maximum attention from the soccer fans allover the world. Millions of fans have flown to the hosting country South Africa to watch the players live in action.

In 2006, Italy won the trophy after beating France in the Final Match on panelty kicks. That match will always be remembered because of a ‘Red Card’ which was shown to the French captain Zinedine Zidane. He was playing his career’s last match. In the opening match of 2010 World Cup, South Africa ended up with Mexico at 1-1. Let us see which country lifts the trophy this year. The final match will be played on 11th July 2010. Maradona is the coach of Argentine. Brazil, Argentine and Spain are among the favourites. However nothing can be predicted about the results.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka play Final in The Lords

Dil Dil Pakistan!!!

Dil Dil Pakistan!!!

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have managed to reach in the Final of World Twenty 20 World Cup in England. Both teams will fight for the Cup tomorrow in The Lords, London. Pakistani Team played a wonderful game against South Africa in Semi-Final and won the match by 7 runs. Sri Lanka beat West Indies in the Semi-Final and qualified to play the Final against Pakistan. Pakistani people are very happy over their team’s unpredicted good performance and they are hopeful that team will repeat the history of 1992 World Cup when Pakistan won unexpectedly.

Pakistani skipper Younis Khan is hopeful that his team will bring smiles on the faces of his countrymen who have lost the same due to the terrorism in Pakistan. Pakistani team is depending a lot on their in-form players Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Umer Gul, Younis Khan and Ajmal Saeed. Allah may bring us the victory as it will boost the moral of whole nation…Amin!

Indian Premier League going to South Africa

Finally Indian government and Cricket Board have also shown their failure against the suspected terror attacks and they have shifted IPL to South Africa, where it will be played from 18th April 2009.

IPL IndiaThis action is not good for the South Asian Cricket as Pakistan and Bangladesh already are facing the security concerns due to which India was the only safe place considered for hosting international players.

Recently their government showed concerns due to the occurance of Indian General Elections in the tournament scheduled dates. South Africa and England showed their interest in hosting this T-20 event and IPL management agreed to arrange the tournament in South Africa. Meanwhile Pakistan and Australia are agreed to play their one-day series in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 22nd April.

It shows that in the future our teams will have to go out for playing Cricket and our stadia will remain empty of players and spectators.

Pakistan loses against Sri Lanka in 3 ODI Series

Cricket lovers were waiting for last many months to see some international matches to be played in Pakistan. Due to security reasons, since long ago none of the Cricket teams had visited Pakistan and our stadia were empty of any game.

In January, Sri lanka agreed to play 3 ODI series in Pakistan. On their request, it was decided that first two matches would be played in Karachi on 20th and 21st of January, whereas final (3rd) match was awarded to Lahore. In all three matches Sri Lanka batted first and Pakistan had to follow the scores.

Pakistani cricketers were expected to come up to the expectations of their fans, who came to the grounds for watching them in action. Pakistan won the forst match in Karachi by 8 wickets following the 220 runs target.

Second match was played on 21st of January. This tim Sri Lankan team played well and gave a target of 291 runs. Ou team could score only 161 and lost the match. In Lahore, on 24th, Pakistan played its worst innings and scored just 75 runs while chasing a huge target of 309. This brought us a defeat by 234 runs, which is shameful. Sri Lanka won the series by 2-1.

After the series Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has replaced the skipper Shoaib malik. Younis Khan is appointed as new skipper of the team. However I am amazed that once again no action has been taken against Shahid Afridi, who scored 14 in the second and 0 in the third ODI. Luckily he could not bat in the first one. Its upmost necessary to get rid of such players who are a burdon on our team.
