Nawaz Sharif

Time never remains the same

On 21st February 2018 Supreme Court of Pakistan gave its verdict against Mian Nawaz Sharif once again and banned him from becoming president of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz). Once again PMLN leaders and spokespersons have started targeting the Supreme Court and are claiming that decisions against Nawaz Sharif are biased and unjust.

My memory is not very good as I forget dates however I never forget important issues and realities. Two years back I used to say that the Supreme Court had never issued a single decision against Sharif Family or PMLN in the previous 10-12 years. Remember that in Musharraf’s case Sindh High Court had declared Nawaz and Shahbaz guilty of high jacking the plane. Interesting fact is that Sharif’s did not appeal against this decision in the Supreme Court and signed a deal with Musharraf and fled to Jeddah. When they returned back in 2007 and later became parliamentarians once again, they appealed in the Supreme Court and the judges declared them innocent.

During the chief minister ship of Shahbaz Sharif whenever Lahore High Court gave any decision against a government project or decision they appealed in the Supreme Court and got decision in their favour. On this Pakistan People’s Party always raised their voice and objected that the courts had double standards of justice for Punjab and Sindh. This situation remained the same until the Supreme Court disqualified the sitting Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif in July 2017. This was a big jolt for Nawaz Sharif and his party. They had never expected such decision. PMLN government made a change to the constitution that allowed a disqualified person to still lead his/her political party. However this time Supreme Court heard to the petitions filed against this change of act and declared it void.

This verdict is an eye opener for all political leaders that now the courts will give their decisions on merit without any influence, which is good for Pakistan.

IK and NS

On the other side, PTI lost their national assembly seat in Lodhran after PMLN candidate beat Ali Tareen Khan in the bye election. This is a big jolt for the party and its workers. PMLN candidate was a poor man who got maximum votes. Shahbaz Sharif has recently done lot of development and welfare projects in Lodhran due to which public decided to vote for their candidate.

PTI needs to focus on their mistakes in Lodhran bye election and must start contacting general public from door to door. In Karachi and Urban Sindh, MQM are losing their control after the intraparty conflicts. This is the best time for PTI to target Karachi, Haiderabad and Sukker, because PTI is very popular in these cities. If they do not work hard now, PPP will get control of these areas and in the next election PTI will not be able to make government.

Imran Khan should immediately put emergency in the party and order all PTI members to focus on general public in their areas and convey party’s policies to them for making a better Pakistan in case they get chance of making next government. He himself should target Karachi and Urban Sindh to win seats from there. This is the last chance for Imran Khan to lead Pakistan as he is 65 already. Our sleeping nation must be taught about the better lifestyle and PTI is the only political party that has will and vision for turning Pakistan into a dream land.

Pakistan needs a vocal and efficient Foreign Minister

Pakistan is going through the most critical and challenging phase of its history these days. India is playing its cards very sharply and has been successful in aligning USA, Iran and Afghanistan with them against Pakistan. Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi recently has raised his voice for the people of Baluchistan which is a very alarming thing. On the other side India has started torturing and killing Kashmiri freedom fighters once again. They have convinced USA successfully that terrorists have their roots in Pakistan.

Our Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is not keeping good health and also he is very much worried due to the strong opposition and demand for his stepping down by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after his family’s involvement in the Panama Leaks scandal. Mr. Sharif has not appointed any Foreign Minister since his government was formed. He looks after foreign issues himself. However it is realised by all political figures and analysts that Pakistan is suffering a lot because of not having a full time Foreign Minister.

Mr. Nawaz Sharif is a silent person by his personality and speaks very less, which is useless in current scenario. He hardly issues any statement against India. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan gave a good lesson to India during the SAARC conference in Islamabad but he can’t do more because his role is not to look after the foreign affairs. In my opinion at this stage Pakistan has to respond Indian actions with strong strategic and diplomatic actions. We therefore need someone like Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto who was a an efficient and vocal Foreign Minister. Otherwise Pakistan will lose all its allies one by one and India will get a very strong position in the region, which will be a big danger for our motherland.

Corrupt leadership exposed after Panama Papers leak

Panama Papers have not only exposed our Prime Minister and his family members but also put a question mark on our national accountability system. Punjab Chief Minister already has become controversial by not allowing National Accountability Bureau to conduct any investigation in Punjab to find the irregularities and corruption in mega government projects like Nandipur Power Plant and Metro bus and train projects

Recently after the Gulshan Iqbal Park bomb blast in Lahore there is a big demand from the public and lawmakers to allow Pak Army to expand their counter-terrorism operation. However Punjab government didn’t like the idea and opposed it.

This difference of treatment between Punjab and other provinces is increasing hatred between the residents of other provinces and of Punjab.

Nawaz Sharif and his party PMLN is already under fire after hanging Mumtaz Qadri and giving safe way to General Retd. Pervez Musharaf, who was facing serious judicial inquiries. It seems that there is no rule of law in Pakistan. Today I interacted with some of very high calibre Pakistanis in Sydney. We discussed on Qadri issue and agreed that it was not a good move to hang him. Instead he could have been given life imprisonment. If government believes that he was treated according to the law then why Raymond Davis was released and Musharraf was given free path.

In the coming days there will be more evidences coming against Sharif family and their political career will seize just like Chaudhries and Bhuttos.

Where do we stand??? (Urdu Blog)

Minhaj Ul Quran and Karachi Airport incidents show failure of PML (N) government

Yesterday (17 June 2014) proved the worst day for the current federal government led by Pakistan Muslim League (N). Punjab Police, on the foolish instructions of provincial law minister Rana Sana Ullah, attacked members of Minhaj Ul Quran in Model Town Lahore where they were sent for removing the barriers. Police had clashes with the members but no one could expect such brutal action that resulted in 8 causalities including two females who were sisters-in-law to each other. Dr. Tahir Ul Qadri, chairman of Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Minhaj Ul Quran (MUQ) condemned the brutal and nonsense action in the strictest words. He had announced few days back of his returning back in the next week and leading his followers towards a revolution in Pakistan.

PAT torture

This incident proved very damaging for the provincial government of Punjab and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is now really worried. He dismissed some senior Police officials immediately. However the worst thing in this sad incident was that one of the females who lost their life was pregnant and was shot a bullet in her jaw. Other blunder was the breaking of car screens by a dedicated PML (N) member identified as Gullu Butt under the Police supervision. He is given title of Sher-e-Punjab (شیر پنجاب) by Mr. Shahbaz Sharif. Other highly condemn-able thing was the inhuman torture on the female members of MUQ by the male Police force who beat them vigorously without any mercy.

PAT torture 2

Before this brutal incident on 8th June 2014 Pakistan busiest airport Jinnah International Karachi was attacked by 10 terrorists who were later identified as Uzbeks. They killed more than 20 people including Airport Security Force members, Police and common men in the exchange of nonstop firing. All terrorists were finally killed and airport was functional again after suspension of flights for almost 14 hours. This took the impression of our country further down. How can we expect that Pakistan would be considered a safe place for the foreign investors? Security collapse is the main reason of this attack. Cathay Pacific has suspended its flights to Pakistan after this incident. British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines and Lufthansa already have suspended their flight operations for Pakistan.

Karachi Airport attack

Both these incidents have brought a bad name for Pakistan and the PML (N) government. Pak Army with the consent of parliament has started its operation in North Waziristan called as Zarb-e-Azab (ضرب عضب) for targeting the terrorists’ shelter places. Let us pray for their success and a peaceful country where one could live with safety and dignity.

Pakistan leading towards peace and prosperity (Allah willing!)

Peace in Pak

Finally after a long tenure of terrorism, fear and disappointment, Pakistan has started gradually improving now. On the precious advice of PTI Chairman Mr. Imran Khan, prime minister Mr. Nawaz Sharif and his team started peace dialogues with the leadership of Taliban. As a good gesture Taliban assured of complete seize fire for one month, which was later extended. Soon after the start of their dialogues, some unknown hands tried to create the misunderstandings between both sides and blasted bombs in different corners of our beloved country. However Taliban leadership not only condemned the attacks but also gave a clear verdict that they were not involved in the blasts at all.

On the other side credit goes to the PML(N) government for somehow convincing the US government on stopping the drone attacks during the peace process. On the economic side, government has made some progress and US$ is now selling around PKR 98.00 in the open market which was selling around PKR 110.00 just a few days back. Recently fuel prices have also been brought down which has given some comfort to the transporters and the common people who drive their vehicles for going to work and meeting their everyday necessities.

However being responsible citizens now Pakistani people must learn from their individual mistakes so that the progress could be sustainable. We must develop habits of honesty, simplicity, hard working, mutual respect, tolerance and helping the people in need around us. We have to be free of any discrimination for others. We need to learn basic manners like how to cross a road, how to make a queue, how to greet others with smile, how to help a disabled person, and how to keep our streets clean. Insha Allah Pakistan will become a heaven then where people will prefer to live rather than immigrating to other countries after getting degrees from Pakistani universities.

PMLN Government failed within 6 months of their rule

Pakistan is bleeding once again….. Our unfortunate people, who had high hopes with PMLN and voted their candidates in the 2013 election, are now repenting. It has now been proved that Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and their ministers cannot control or improve day-by-day deteriorating situation. Nawaz proved to be the most irresponsible Prime Minister in the history of Pakistan, who kept enjoying his foreign visits when Rawalpindi had the worst sectarian clashes in its history on 10th of Muharram. He left for Thailand after attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Following are the areas where PMLN government shows a complete failure:

  1. Law and order situation: Government has failed to maintain its writ.
  2. Highest rate of inflation:  Government could not implement any price control strategy due to which common people are facing the worst living conditions.
  3. Pakistan International Airlines: Government is planning to privatise the national air carrier of Pakistan so that they could hide the corruption and earn commissions for awarding the contract to some favourite business entrepreneurs.
  4. Increasing religious conflicts: Many Pakistanis are now facing discrimination and threats because of their religious and sectarian beliefs and government has done nothing to solve this alarming situation.
  5. Rapidly decreasing foreign investments: Due to the poor law and order conditions, foreign investors are closing down their businesses in Pakistan. Recently Citibank closed their business in Pakistan.
  6. Drone attacks: Government failed in making sure that USA will not continue its drone attacks in Pakistan. In the latest attack, Taliban leader Hakeem Ullah Mehsud was killed and after that Taliban boycotted the peace dialogues with Pakistani Government.
  7. Geo TV: It has been proved that Geo group is being funded and used by our enemies. Pakistani Government failed in putting any ban on them.
  8. Electricity crisis: PMLN Government failed in controlling the long going load shedding. They did not take any serious initiative in improving the situation.

Due to the non-serious attitude of government and their poor policies we cannot expect anything good from them in the coming days. Hiring of the incapable and referred (سفارشی) persons in Police has resulted in failure of the whole department. Police could not control the riots in Rawalpindi in spite of the high alert. Similarly Police officials in Lahore failed in finding the culprit who raped 5 year old girl Sunbal, inspite of having the CCTV footage. This is because of the reason that they are not trained in carrying out the scientific and modern investigation techniques.

Highly educated and well groomed Pakistanis now are facing problems in getting visit or study visas for the European, American and Australasian countries. The reason is that these countries fear that after arriving they would apply for asylum. Some Pakistanis have done this and now it’s hard for the developed countries to believe us. Australia even does not like to invite Pakistani cricket team here because Pakistani cricketer Fawad Ahmed applied for the asylum here. For more than last 4 years Pakistani team has not toured Australia.

I wish that Imran Khan and Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed could lead our country. Both of them are aware of the public sentiments and present law and order situation. Sheikh Rasheed has already warned that if the things keep on going like this, he would call the public on roads. This is the time when we need a real visionary leadership, otherwise God forbid Pakistan’s future is in danger.

Peaceful neighbourhood necessary for Pakistan

I am a Civil Engineer by qualification. During our graduation we were taught about the levels of earthquakes in a subject of geo-technical engineering. Earthquake intensity is expressed in Richter scale. An earthquake falling in the range of 7.0 – 7.9 on Richter scale is termed as catastrophic.

25th of September 2013 can be termed as a black day in the history of Baluchistan province when district Awaran was hit by an earthquake of intensity 7.8 (Richter scale). More than 300 people, including women and children, lost their lives as result of this 8 second long severe earthquake. People of the area witnessed emerging of a new island type structures in the Arabian Sea near the port of Gwadar.

After the earthquake, rescue services were started immediately by the federal and provincial governments, with the cooperation of Pakistan Army. However the most alarming thing noticed was the attack on helping Army helicopter by using rocket launchers. Independence fighters in Baluchistan province are getting foreign support from India and Afghanistan who want to destabilise Pakistan. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif It has recent meeting with his Indian counterpart Mr. Manmohan Singh in New York has elevated this issue. Later Pakistani government has provided proofs of Indian interference in Baluchistan to the Indian authorities.

Pakistan is always blamed for harbouring the terrorists on its lands. India is always doing the false propaganda against our country in this regard. However if we just review true situation of the area, we would realise that countries having their borders with India are facing problems. India is having issues with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and China. India is supporting the Baluchistan Liberation Army through Afghanistan where it has opened so many consulates, which are not required at all. Purpose is to provide ammunition to the anti-government terrorists in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s biggest media group Jang has been trying its best to bring peace between the two neighbouring countries and with the cooperation of an Indian media group ‘Times of India’ it launched a campaign ‘Aman Ki Asha’ (hope of peace). Recently both groups arranged a dialogue between the senior politicians and army personnel from both countries on TV screens. Indian panel spoke very rudely and targeted Hafiz Saeed, who was released by the Supreme Court of Pakistan after finding that there was nothing against him for which he could be kept behind the bars. Seasoned politician Sheikh Rashid Ahmed handled tough allegations from Indian participants quite smartly.

Some days back (as reported by Times of India on July 14, 2013) the former Indian home ministry officer and investigator Satish Verma disclosed that “incumbent government orchestrated and pre-planned terror attacks on its own parliament (December 13, 2001) and carnage in Mumbai (November 26, 2008)” creating terror, mayhem and pandemonium, killing hundreds of innocent people in cold blood. Pak-China friendship

After knowing such things we must be clear about the Indian intentions about bringing peace in the area. Pakistani government should not shake hand with India or Afghanistan who are our enemies. We must revive our terms with China, Iran and Bangladesh so that we could tackle with the international issues with their support. This will also help in maintaining balance of power in the region. We can arrange trainings for our law enforcing agencies with the help of Chinese and Iranian governments. We can also make sure that on all international forums we have a united voice which will definitely have a sound impact.

Now this is the time that we should ban showing of Indian movies in our cinemas. For this government must invest in the Pakistani film industry and help it to establish once again. More incentives should be announced for the businessmen for constructing cinemas and theatre halls. Similarly all cinemas must be given tax relief for at least two years so that they could happily exhibit our own films. By promoting our own culture we’ll bring a sense of patriotism in our people. Pakistani artists will also be able to support their families after getting work.

Pakistan Zindabad!!!

Most unpredictable election in the history of Pakistan

Pakistani nation will cast their votes this Saturday (11-05-2013) for choosing the new lawmakers. This is the 11th general election for Pakistan. This is the first time since 1962 when first general election was held, that democratic transition is taking place successfully between the two elected governments. Last five years can be termed as the worst democratic period in the history of Pakistan.

None of the elections has been so unpredictable and complex in the history of Pakistan as this one is. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as a big threat for Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PMLN), which has been dreaming of clean sweeping the election without any significant competition. However during the election campaign people in different cities have given great response to Imran Khan. Women and youngsters are the main power of PTI and if the turn out remains high on the Election Day, all claims and predictions in the favour of PMLN could turn wrong.

Election 2013 competition

Imran Khan has made Sharif brothers nervous, who were quite sure of their victory after the poor performance of PPP government in federal. Punjab government’s several initiatives (Metro bus, Danish schools, Laptop scheme, Solar energy panels’ distribution and eradication of dengue disease) are the trump cards for the PMLN leadership and they had full confidence that they would get the maximum votes in the upcoming election. However Imran Khan has come up with a clear programme and vision. He has openly taken stance of coming out of the US slavery and debts. He has clearly warned that the US drones attacking in Pakistan would be fallen down. Imran has also given two year time for getting rid of the worst electricity shortage resulting in 12-16 long load shedding in the cities. He also has a programme of bringing reforms in Police so that the worst law and order situation would be improved.

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PMLN) on the other hand have come up with the intentions of bringing some new infrastructure projects like Bullet Train (from Karachi to Peshawar) and new motorways. They also have vowed to control the electricity shortage and strengthen the economy. Former Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Shahbaz Sharif gives examples of successfully eradicating dengue, and launching Merto Bus project in just 11 month record period. People in high volumes are attending the gatherings of both the parties and listening to their leaders. Who wins? Nothing can be predicted at this stage and we have to wait till Saturday, the 11th of May 2013 when things will get clear. However it is clear that now a better time is coming for Pakistan. Insha Allah!!!!!
