Once again so called Muslims (illiterate and jobless, in fact useless youngsters) attacked peaceful Christian community living in Joseph Colony, Badami Bagh Lahore. More than 100 houses were put on fire within minutes. The protestors were thousands in number and therefore law enforcing agencies failed to control them.
I really cannot understand what has gone wrong with our nation within last few years. I look back into my college years. We studied F.Sc. in Forman Christian College Lahore. It was 1989 when I and my twin brother got admission in this great alma matter which was being administrated by the Punjab government at that time. Those days Friday used to be the weekly off day. So we used to attend the college on Sunday. F.C. College was a private college, which was nationalised by the Government during Bhutto’s regime. When we were studying, Islamic student organisation Islami Jamiat Talba had their unannounced control on the students and no one liked them ever. However college still had a church that used to ring its bells every Sunday, which sounded so pleasant in the beautiful winter afternoons that even today I recall them as a sweet memory of my college time. Rashid and I attended church service many times. Christians were so respectful to us that they never minded our presence in their worship.
Even Jamiat never interfered with the Christians living in the vicinity of the college. When Christmas approached, church used to play beautiful religious hymns and songs like Jingle Bells and Green Sleeves. In the beautiful cold and foggy days that melodies even touched hearts of Muslims students and everyone had a lovely feeling.
Today unfortunately our tolerance and respect for others has lost. We cannot bear anyone who is different from us. Uneducated, ill mannered and unemployed youngsters wear the coat of Islam and start attacking the peaceful religious minorities. Why????????
Who the hell are these bastards to attack others’ properties and lives? There was an allegation on a single Christian man named as Sawan Masih that he had used blasphemous content about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during his exchange of some harsh comments with one of his Muslim friends Mr. Shahid Imran. Both the accused and the accuser (Shahid Imran) were drunk at that time. Masha Allah this is the status of so called religious Muslim (Sawan’s friend) who came up with this allegation. Sawan was taken into the Police custody immediately. However angry mob set assets of the whole Christian community of Joseph Colony on fire. Many families reported, while crying, that their daughters’ dowry also got burnt in this attack. They were demanding for the compensation of their loss. As an expression of their hurt feelings, Christians living In Yohana Abad attacked Metro Bus Station and broke the glasses. I don’t blame them for doing so.
During the last 5 years of Punjab government we saw number of such incidents against religious minorities in Punjab. Shia, Qadiani and Christian communities have been targeted continuously. Punjab government failed in controlling such attacks. In these attacks, Governor of Punjab Mr. Salman Taseer lost his life. Federal Minister Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti also was killed just for speaking against the controversial blasphemy law. Rana Sana Ullah and other PML-N leaders are blamed for this aggravating situation. It is said that they have links with forbidden religious parties like Lashkar-e-Jhangavi and Sipah-e-Sahaba for getting their political support.
If we really love our country and want to change it, we all have to stand united against such culprits who attack the peaceful people or worship places. We must teach our kids the real values of Islam, i.e. tolerance, rights of neighbours, dealings with people from other faiths; and protection of others’ life, belongings and grace.
I request once again all my readers to please vote Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the coming election of Pakistan so that Imran Khan could lead us to a stage of peace and development without any leniency for law breaching gangsters and terrorists.
