Mr. Syed Atiq ul Hassan is a Pakistani based journalist living in Sydney for a long time. He can be regarded one of those few Pakistanis who have brought a better face of our beloved country in front of Australian community. He alongside his family have been arranging a beautiful cultural event for the Muslims in Australia known as “Chand Raat Eid Festival”.
This colourful event is organised just last weekend before Eid ul Fitr every year. It is not only attended by the Muslims but a large number of people from Hindu and Sikh communities also attend the event to show their respect for the Muslims living in Australia. Key government officials are also invited to join the celebration.
This year this multicultural event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 18th of August in Sydney Showground, Olympic Park. NSW Government Community Relations Commission and Transport department are also sponsoring the event with many others. Event will open its gates on 6:00 pm and will continue till 1:00 a.m. Families and youngsters will enjoy delicious food, rides and a specially designed musical programme, where Riaz Shah and S&S (Team Dosti) will perform live. There will be a large number of stalls selling eastern clothes and henna (مہندی) for ladies and kids. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Australia is also going to have a stall there, where membership facility will be available.
Tickets will be available on the gates that are quite cheap. We appreciate and congratulate Atiq and his team for promoting our beautiful eastern culture in Australia.
