Salar Sikandar, Imama Hashim, Saba Kareem, Arfeen Abbas…..the list goes further and includes Zainab Zia and Karam Ali. These characters simply steal our hearts when we read Umaira Ahmed’s novels like Peer-e-Kaamil, Meri Zaat Zara e Bai Nishaan, Iman Umeed Aur Muhabbat and Man-O-Salwa.
She is a young lady from Sialkot. Her novels have got enormous popularity and now many TV producers have started making serials on her stories. Geo TV’s Meri Zaat Zara e Bai Nishaan got maximum popularity among the TV spectators. Umaira has given a unique touch to the Urdu novel writing. She has a very firm grip on her pen. She writes the stories that you can feel so real as happening just very near to you. She mainly focuses on the family related issues. Her stories also promote Islamic and ethical teachings. I have recently completed her novel Man-O-Salwa, in which she has attempted to describe the ill-effects of earning money through illegal manners (rizk-e-haraam). The story gives lot of good lessons. I highly recommend Umaira’s novels to the Urdu readers. She is a pride of Pakistan.
