Aalim Online – a great religious programme

First of all I would like to greet all my Muslim visitors with a very happy and blessed Ramazan Kareem. May Allah shower His blessings on us during this holy month and forgive our sins… Amin!

Geo TV is the most popular TV channel in Pakistan. Although Geo sometimes telecast programmes that are not inline with our cultural and religious values, yet Geo is doing a great effort in the shape of ‘Aalim Online’, which is a religious informatory programme. The programme is produced and hosted by a former Federal Minister, Dr. Aamir Liaqat Hussain, who has a charming personality and good grip over religious and political issues. Dr. Aamir takes live phone calls in the programme, where people ask him religious questions. Then he asks those questions from two religious personalities (each from Sunny and Shia schools of thought). They reply the questions as per their sets of beliefs. Dr. Aamir arranges special programmes on important religious, cultiral, political and social issues. His programme on the night of 27th Ramazan (Lailat-ul-Qadar) is awaited by millions of Muslims and his duaa is heared with tears in eyes. He also reaches where there is some brutality or violance. He brings the truth on the TV screen without any fear. He is also trying his level best to clarify the misunderstandings about Islam.

Dr. Aamir was a member of terrorist political party MQM previously. However, he left them after their disliking on one of his programmes in which he had condemned British Government for awarding Knighthood to Salman Rushdi (who had done blesphamy against Prophet Muhammad PBUH in his book ‘Satanic Verses’). he also resigned from the ministry. We pray to Allah for giving him more honour and strength.

  1. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community condemns in the strongest terms the broadcast on September 7th 2008 of the television programme ‘Aalim Online’ on the GEO Television Channel which broadcasts in a number of different countries including Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The broadcast which was presented by Aamir Liaquat Hussain sought to ‘commemorate’ the 34th anniversary of members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community being declared non-Muslim in Pakistan. The programme which included both a panel discussion and telephone conference was both extremely inflammatory in its tone and highly provocative.

During the broadcast the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him) was spoken of in the most vile and grotesque language. The language used offended the sentiments not only of all Ahmadi Muslims but indeed those of all peaceful and tolerant peoples.

Further, during the broadcast members of the discussion panel when speaking in reference to the beliefs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and its Founder spoke of how people who held such beliefs were ‘Wajb-ul-Qatl’, that is ‘Liable to death’. This phrase was used repeatedly and at no point did the moderator Aamir Liaquat Hussain interject to stop such obscene and inflammatory language being used. In this respect the broadcaster completely failed in its duty to exercise a proper degree of responsibility with respect the content of its broadcast.

As mentioned earlier the programme was broadcast in Pakistan amongst other countries. There is no doubt that the language and tone of the programme served only to further inflame the anti-Ahmadiyya sentiment which has been perpetrated by the extreme clerics (Maulvis) over many decades in the country.

  2. Dear Waqi, I can agree with you that the programme telecast on 7th September made people violent against people of your beliefset. But why you people dont think seriously that ALL MUSLIM SECTS including Saudi Arabian Muslims have unanimously decalred you people as non-Muslims. You people always call your opponents as MAULVIS or MULLAHS but the most renowned and learned Muslim scholars also belief in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat (finality of Prophethood) and consider Mirza as a kaafir (non-believer).

  3. Non Muslim Dclare karnay ka matlab yeh to nahi hey kay app kissi ko us kay believe ki waja say Qatal karnay ka hukam day do.
Islam main yeh kahan likha hay

  4. Kaafir is not wajbul qatl but murtad is and that means someone believed in prophethood of Muhammad (SAW) as being the last prophet and then gone astray or believed in something contrary like Ahmedees. If someone is Ahmedi hes not wajibul qatl but when someone says hes muslim which means believes in the finality of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the calls himself Ahmed/Non-believer then he has become murtad hence wajibul qatl. But state has this resposibility to execute him or give him the chance to repent, choice is his.
