Pakistan – The New Champions!

22 Jun 2009 · 1 Comment

It was Lord’s, London on 21 June 2009. Pakistan and Sri Lanka were playing the final match of ICC World Twenty20 Cup. Green Shirts were led by the brave Younis Khan who was determined to repeat the history after 17 years when Pakistan had won the 1992 Cricket World Cup in Australia. History was also repeating itself in another way. In 1999, Pakistan had played the World Cup Cricket final on the same Lord’s against Australia on the same date, i.e. 21 June and it was also the same day, i.e. Sunday. However Pakistan lost that match.

Sri Lankan team was not an easy task as they had remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Their wonderful players Dilshan, Singakarra (captain), Jaysuria, Murlydaran and Malinga were determined to keep their victories going on. But on the other hand, Pakistanis had the inner determination (جذبہ) that they had to win this most crucial match as it could be the most precious gift for a nation, which has not seen any happiness for a long time due to its fight against the terrorists. Our bowlers Muhammad Aamir, Ajmal Saeed, Umer Gul and Shahid Afridi did not allow Sri Lanka to make a big total who had won the toss and batted first. They scored 138 on the loss of 6 wickets.

Pakistan in reply lost only two wickets of Shazaib Hassan and Kamram Akmal, and reached the target of 139 runs in the 19th over. Shahid Afridi scored 54 runs and also claimed a wicket. He was declared Man of the Match. After this victory whole Pakistani nation came out on the streets and started celebrating this great success. By this achievement Pakistan has given a message to the whole world that we are the best nation who can win even in the time of crisis. I congratulate all Pakistanis on this victory and wish that we can get more and more achievements in the future.

Long Live Pakistan! پاکستان زندہ باد

Dil Dil Pakistan!!!

Dil Dil Pakistan!!!

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have managed to reach in the Final of World Twenty 20 World Cup in England. Both teams will fight for the Cup tomorrow in The Lords, London. Pakistani Team played a wonderful game against South Africa in Semi-Final and won the match by 7 runs. Sri Lanka beat West Indies in the Semi-Final and qualified to play the Final against Pakistan. Pakistani people are very happy over their team’s unpredicted good performance and they are hopeful that team will repeat the history of 1992 World Cup when Pakistan won unexpectedly.

Pakistani skipper Younis Khan is hopeful that his team will bring smiles on the faces of his countrymen who have lost the same due to the terrorism in Pakistan. Pakistani team is depending a lot on their in-form players Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Umer Gul, Younis Khan and Ajmal Saeed. Allah may bring us the victory as it will boost the moral of whole nation…Amin!

Karachi: City of Lights or a Dark City?

18 Jun 2009 · Leave a Comment

Karachi at night

Karachi at night

Karachi is not only the largest city of Pakistan, but is also the business capital of the country. Karachi is termed as Mini Pakistan as people from all over Pakistan have settled here for jobs.

This beautiful and modern city is called “City of Lights (روشنیوں کا شہر)”. Unfortunately for last many hours this great cosmopolitan city has turned into a Dark City. Due to mismanagement of Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation (KESC), the electricity feeders tripped and till now more than 80% of the city is experiencing the worst electricity shut down. As usual our so called democratic government has not taken this issue very seriously, which may spark up the annoyance in the residents of Karachi. It is not only affecting the general public but also the industrial sector, which is already not doing well due to electricity load shedding, and lack of business from foreign countries due to recession and terrorism. Sindh Government must take serious action against the responsible KESC officials whose negligence has turned the City of Lights into a Dark City. Government must make sure that no such incident should ever be repeated again. I hope that electricity in Karachi will be restored before evening and residents of this great city will enjoy watching the T-20 World Cup Semi Final match between Pakistan and South Africa on their TV screens.

Dr. Sarfraz Naeemi assassinated in Lahore

13 Jun 2009 · 4 Comments

It was a very bad day in the history of Pakistan yesterday (Friday, 12th June 2009) when Taliban terrorists killed a noble religious scholar Dr. Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi in his office in Lahore. A suicide bomber entered his office after the Friday prayer and blew himself. Dr. Naeemi was seriously wounded and he lost his life in the way to hospital. He was the head of Jamia Naeemia (a Sunni religious education centre). He was against suicidal attacks and terrorism in the name of Islam.

This event put the whole country into shock and depression as noone could guess that Taliban would start killing the innocent religious leaders. But at the same time now nation has got clear message that these illetrate Taliban are not even Muslims at all. They are injected and financed by the enemies of Islam and Pakistan and they don’t know what they are doing with Islam and Pakistan. Insha Allah Pakistan Army with the help of Allah and prayers and suport of Pakistani nation will very soon eliminate these elements.

Irfan Khan and Lara Dutta in Billu Barber

Irfan Khan and Lara Dutta in Billu Barber

On Monday, 8 June 2009 I got a chance to watch Shahrukh Khan’s production ‘Billu Barber’. The movie is indeed a must watch. Simple yet beautiful script captures your attention and does not allow you to leave until you finish the movie. Upcoming Bollywood actor Irfan Khan has played the title role of Billu, whereas Shahrukh Khan has played a secondary role. Lara Dutta has played the role of a village based housewife (Billu’s wife). In this movie Irfan Khan has proved that he has got great acting skills. The way he has performed role of a poor villager, who is a barber by profession, is highly appreciable. After showing his acting skills in Hollywood super hit ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Irfan once again came up to the expectations of his fans. I would like to recommend all the readers to watch ‘Billu Barber’. No doubt Irfan has enrolled his name in the list of successful Khans in Bollywood. We wish Irfan Khan a very good film career.

Racism everywhere!!!!!

5 Jun 2009 · 1 Comment

racismI was very sad to hear that in Melbourne, Australia some Aussie people attacked innocent Indian students. This is not anything new, especially in Australia. They are the people who give us immigration after we prove ourselves by meeting their very strict requirements. In these requirements, one is about recognition of our skills and job experience. After getting the immigration, when we go there, they people start RACISM. They say “We cannot offer you any job as you don’t have Australian experience”. Same thing happened with me and instead of having 5 year job experience and M.Sc. Environmental Engineering degree I could not get a job…

But unfortunartely, racism is everywhere. Even if you go to a night club or Disco, you will see racism. White skinned people can dance with any lady, whereas there is hardly any lady who will agree to dance with brown or black skinned people even if she herself is black skinned. Similarly people in the Gulf countries are paid based on their nationality or passport. I fear that these things will creat a great drift between the peoples of different countries in the near future and this world will no more be a peaceful place to live. We must fight against the racism at every level and show our support to those who are suffering because of it.
