Turkish Prime Minister Mr. Rajab Tayyeb Erdogan (رجب طیب اردگان) is the new hero of Muslim world. He was attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. When Israeli President Shimon Peres defended Israel’s attacks on Gaza and put the responsibility of killing more than 1000 palestinians on Hamas, Turkish Premier stormed off the stage (during a panel discussion on January 29).
Peres had asked what Erdogan would do if rockets were being fired at innocent civilians in Turkey. As he spoke, Peres raised his voice and pointed his finger at Erdogan.
“What would any country do? What would you do if you would have in Istanbul every night 10 rockets, or 100 rockets?” Peres asked.
In the strongest public criticism of Israel by a Turkish head of government in years, Erdogan responded: “President Peres, you are older than I am and you have a very strong voice. I feel that you perhaps feel guilty and that’s why perhaps you are using such a strong voice. My voice won’t be that high, to be sure.
“When it comes to killing, you [Israel] know well how to kill people,” he continued. “I remember the children whom you [Israel] killed on beaches, and I remember two former prime ministers in your country who said to me that they felt very happy when they were able to enter Palestine in tanks.” (Source: http://www.rferl.org/content/Turkish_PM_Shows_New_ForeignPolicy_Assertiveness_At_Davos/1376933.html)
Arab world is very happy on the reaction of Turkish Premier and their newspaper and analysts are saying that such an action had to be done by the Arab leaders, which has been done by the Turkish PM. Mr. Tayyeb was warmly welcomed on his arrival in Anqara and people inspite of severe cold weather gathered at the airport, holding Palestinian flags, to welcome their hero.
Cricket lovers were waiting for last many months to see some international matches to be played in Pakistan. Due to security reasons, since long ago none of the Cricket teams had visited Pakistan and our stadia were empty of any game.
In January, Sri lanka agreed to play 3 ODI series in Pakistan. On their request, it was decided that first two matches would be played in Karachi on 20th and 21st of January, whereas final (3rd) match was awarded to Lahore. In all three matches Sri Lanka batted first and Pakistan had to follow the scores.
Pakistani cricketers were expected to come up to the expectations of their fans, who came to the grounds for watching them in action. Pakistan won the forst match in Karachi by 8 wickets following the 220 runs target.
Second match was played on 21st of January. This tim Sri Lankan team played well and gave a target of 291 runs. Ou team could score only 161 and lost the match. In Lahore, on 24th, Pakistan played its worst innings and scored just 75 runs while chasing a huge target of 309. This brought us a defeat by 234 runs, which is shameful. Sri Lanka won the series by 2-1.
After the series Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has replaced the skipper Shoaib malik. Younis Khan is appointed as new skipper of the team. However I am amazed that once again no action has been taken against Shahid Afridi, who scored 14 in the second and 0 in the third ODI. Luckily he could not bat in the first one. Its upmost necessary to get rid of such players who are a burdon on our team.
I am very sad today because a week ago, one of my very kind and favourite teachers, Professor Yahya Chaudhry passed away in Lahore. He was my teacher during my second year in B.Sc. Civil Engineering. He taught us the subject of Building Construction and Drawing II.
Professor Yahya retired as Dean of Civil Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 2006 (as far as my memory works). he always showed great love care for his students. He was a witty man and had a great sense of humor. He was also very good in memorising Urdu poetry. To me he was very kind and he always appreciated my music. He took great care of me when I went against my whole class once and did not agree on not attending his class. He was also very nice friend of my Father Dr. Javed Anwar Aziz.
besides teaching the course work, Prof. Yahya told us many practical things that are being used on sites. I pray to Allah to bless his soul in Jannat-ul-firdous and give patience to his family to bear this unrecoverable loss….
Gone are the days when Shahrukh Khan was the only ‘King’ in Bollywood. Aamir Khan is back with Ghajani and has proved that he is the real no. 1. Aamir has done a great job and it was a very difficult role to play. Aamir did the right justice with this very different type of character, a person who has short term memory and forgets everything after 15 minutes. Aamir is hero against Asin who is a new girl from Tamil Nadu. She also has acted beautifully.
Aamir is seen a very rich man in the movie and the girl (Asin) doesn’t know this reality. He takes him as a poor man. Aamir has played two-folded role in this regard. On one side he is shown a real stylish rich man and on the other side he has to pretend that he is just an ordinary person. Aamir has played both characters beautifully. Above all he had to make his body like weight lifters for the demand 0f this film. Aamir also got bald for the same. He told media in his interview that he never charges to the film makers for the amount spent on his get up for the movies. Aamir is really a great actor and is the real Bollywood Best Actor for year 2008.
Newly elected US President Mr. Barack Obama is going to take his charge tomorrow ( 20 Jan 2009 ). Whole world is looking towards this very important moment. Due to immature policies of the former US President Mr. George W. Bush today the whole world is suffering. There is fire everywhere and noone is secure, although Bush claims that he has made US a real secure place.
Barack Hussein Obama - The New US President
Obama’s victory has brought a hope for the people who had lost the same during Bush’s reign. President Obama has also given hints in his speeches and interviews that present US policies must be changed. However till now he has not stated clearly that what he will be doing to face many challenges including the worst financial crunch. Muslim world is also expecting some good gesture from Obama as he is son of a Muslim father. The Muslim countries are hopeful that he will change present US policy on the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Similarly Palestinian people are also expecting some good steps from Obama regarding their tensions with Israel. Pakistani people are hopeful that US will stop targetting Pakistani areas by their drones and the country will improve its relation with India with cooperation of the US government.
Hope for the best and keep faith that a good time will come very soon insha Allah.
These days Pakistan is undergoing a very tense situation. Our relations with our neighbouring super power India have highly effected after the Mumbai blasts. It was expected that the leadership of Pakistan will show seriousness and maturity in bringing the situation in a better shape, however they have been doing serious mistakes after the Indian response on these attacks in which India blamed Pakistan and asked us to arrest and hand over the culprits to Indian government behind the attacks. Pakistani government first agreed to send ISI Chief to India as per their demand. Later on Army Chief’s interruption this decision was taken back.
A few days back when Major General (r) Mahmood Ali Durrani, National Security Advisor of Pakistan, issued a statement in which he confirmed that the captured militant Ajmal Qasab is Pakistani citizen; made Prime Minister Gillani angry and got immediately fired from his position. This cleared it that Ajmal Qasab was Pakistani as per Indian claim.
Information Minister Sherry Rehman also agreed it on the same thing but she was not fired. Such things are showing that the PPP government is not taking mature decisions and they lack in the professionalism required to run a country…. President Zardari is more powerful than the Prime Minister and the government has to obey him. Pakistan is just like a ship with two captains…..Allah help us in this time… Amin!
Mitwa…….kahain dharrkanain tujh saey kia! (متوا۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ کہیں دھڑکنیں تجھ سے کیا). This melodious song cast a spell on the listeners. This and many other hit songs like Khamaj (Mora Sayiaan), Akhiyaan, Tere Bina, Ye Hosla, Kharrayaan De Naal and Pagal Pan (last two from the latest album Tabeer) are the recognition of none other than Shafqat Amanat Ali. He is the singer from Patiala Family of Lahore, whose members liek Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Asad Amanat Ali and Hamid Ali Khan have gained great respect due to the classical singing.
Shafqat is different from rest of his family musicians in a sense that he experiened fusion of eastern and western music. He started his singing publically with a band Fuzon and got popularity within days. They got great popularity. Later Shafqat left the band and started his solo career. Due to his amazing voice, Indian music directors gave him opportunities to sing for Bollywood movies. Mitwa was a part of Shahrukh Khan’s movie Kabhi Alwida Naa Kehna (کبھی الوداع نہ کہنا ). Recently Shafqat has released his solo album Tabeer (تعبیر). This album features some great songs like Kharrayaan De Naal, Pagal Pan, Rung Ley, Rohi, Dum Ali Ali Dum, Kartar (Darbari) and Jaa We Sayouni (Bhullay Shah). Shafqat has emerged as a Sufi rockstar in this album. Its a worth listening album and the listener enjoys a lot while listening to the very complex yet beautiful melodies.
No doubt that ‘Mother’ is the best of all relations in this mean world. Allah has blessed human beings and all animals with this precious gift. Benazir Bhutto was the 2 time Prime Minister of Pakistan. She was also mother of two daughters and a son.
After her assassination on 27 December 2008, her children are the ones who suffered the most. Her daughter Bakhtawar has recently surprised everone by singing a rap song in the memory of her mother, which has also been uploaded on Youtube after Benazir’s 1st death anniversary. We highly appreciate Bakhtawar’s effort. Here is the video of that song titled as ‘I would take the pain away!’.
Words of Ismail Ajaz (Khayal) are just true and we must learn from the lives of great Islamic rulers, who conqured the world with peace but did not compromise on injustice or brutality…. Shaheed Imam Hussain (R.A) can be quoted especially in this regard, who got his head cut but did not bend it in front of bad.
